Every year Musicians and Singers from Parishes all over the Diocese take the last weekend in October “off” and meet together at The Priory of Our Lady, Sayers Common. The weekend is an opportunity for us to take a step back from organising the music and Liturgy and just enjoy participating in it.

 This year was no exception, with workshops led by John Lillis, Alistair Warwick, Peter Olsen; all directed and overseen by Chairman of the Music Committee, Tony Charlier and accompaniment was provided by Clare Woodham.

Additional spiritual nourishment was provided by Fr Gerard Bradley of St John’s Seminary, Wonersh, who led us on a journey into Icons and the Liturgy. Over three sessions he showed us a new way of looking at the Liturgy and the place of Music within it - most inspiring.

Tony’s selection of music from “Baptised with Fire” - a new publication from the Society of St Gregory challenged us in other ways and I, for one came away spiritually refreshed. Wonderful!    Peter Olsen
