WEYBRIDGE DEANERY PARISH/SCHOOLS MUSIC DAY

In April, the Weybridge Deanery had the pleasure of hosting its first Music Day for schools and parish singers.  We were delighted by the excellent joint participation of over 50 children from Cardinal Newman, Hersham, St. Charles Borromeo, Weybridge and St. Alban’s in West Molesey, who as singers and instrumentalists provided a moving and prayerful celebration of the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

The extended invitation to adult singers from parishes throughout the Deanery and beyond made for an act of worship which transcended all age groups and demonstrated that whatever one’s talents, there is always a place within liturgical celebrations to be filled.

The Deanery owes its thanks to John Lillis and Peter Olsen who successfully led the music workshops, but most especially to the children whose participation and enthusiasm was so warmly welcomed.

It is hoped that a similar day of music and worship will be held in the Autumn at the Guildford Deanery and full details and information will be available nearer the time.   It is truly an event not to be missed, and we hope that as many schools and parishes not only throughout the Deanery but throughout the Diocese will take part.
